Computer Graphics Design School

INTRODUCTION
A majority of today’s Businesses require the expertise of graphic artists - whether in-house, freelance or through agencies -  to create anything from simple company logos to advertising requirements in the web, print and audio visual presentations. This program will harness the artistic potential of students in sketching, illustration and story boarding, pushing it to the next level by introducing state-of-the-art graphic design software in Adobe, 3D  animation and effects tools to mold the art professional of tomorrow.

Basically the Computer Graphics Design course provided by CIIT focuses more on the discipline of "still-arts" like sketching, painting, photography, typography, layout, etc. The course also allows students who have much interested in the arts to finally transition from traditional mediums to digital hence Computer Graphics. Subjects like Elements of Graphics Design focuses more on introduction to design elements that would apply to both traditional and digital format while subjects like Graphics Illustration II would take a step further and remove the traditional pencil or charcoal from the students and replace it with a digital pen. Photography that is very much an art of its own is now blended with subjects like Web Design & Publishing that would allow students to really apply the photographs and mix it with different art forms like vector illustrations or in creating advertisements.

How-to: Create Cute Font Effects in Photoshop

Level: Intermediate
You should at least know how to use the Type Tool, Gradient, Marquee Tool & Layers Pallette. This project will take about 5 minutes or less to finish.

STEP 1:
Select the Type Tool.
Use a cute looking font. Something fat and round on the edges.
Type "mike" or your name.

STEP 2:
On the Layers Palette:
Right-click on Type Layer "mike"
Select Blending Options

STEP 3:
Check Color Overlay and select a light blue color

STEP: 4
Check on Stroke
Increase Size until you are satisfied
Position must be set to Outside
Change Fill Type to Gradient
Click on the Gradient bar and change the left side color to light blue
Change right side color to dark blue
After you do this, make sure the light color is on top. If not, you can adjust the Angle.

STEP 5:
Move your mouse on the symbol besides your Mike Layer then
Ctrl + Click on the T-symbol.
You will notice that you have now selected "mike"
Our problem now is how to select the lower part of "mike"

STEP:6
Select the Elliptical Marquee Tool from your Toolbar.
On the Options Menu above, select the Subtract From Selection.

STEP: 7
Use the Elliptical Marquee Tool and create a selection of the areas you want to remove.
You should end up with the selection similar below.

STEP 8: Completion
With this selection, create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N).
Select a darker shade of blue then use the Brush tool to paint. You will notice that only the selected area is painted with the dark blue.
